Our enclosures have galvanised wire mesh on the sides with holes 11mm x 11mm, keeping your pets safely inside while preventing escapes. The mesh also helps protect against common predators such as mice, rats, snakes and cats. Please note that the runs sit directly on the ground, so if you’re concerned about digging predators, additional base protection may be needed.

FAQ

What type of housing is best for guinea pigs?

A guinea pig enclosure should include a sheltered hutch for sleeping, hiding, and keeping food and water, as well as an attached run for exercise and play. If placing the hutch outdoors, we recommend a wooden hutch, as it provides natural insulation and is safe for your guinea pigs to chew on.

Do guinea pigs need an outdoor run?

Yes, guinea pigs need space to exercise and run around. While they benefit from at least one hour of supervised play in a different area each day, a hutch with a spacious run allows them to safely be active even when you’re not around.

Do guinea pigs like two-level cages?

Yes, most guinea pigs can confidently use ramps to access the second level of a cage. If your guinea pig seems hesitate at first, trail a high value treat (such as capsicum or rocket leaves) up the ramp to lure them up. Two-level cages are not suitable for babies, seniors or guinea pigs with mobility issues.
